New Beginnings: Life as a Cancer Survivor


Spring is the time for new ideas, new enthusiasm, and new resolutions. Please join staff from the Breast Health Program and the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center for an information-packed afternoon focused on your needs as a cancer survivor. There will be booths and staff with information concerning:

· Diet and breast health
· Exercise and its effects on fatigue and bone density
· Emotional and financial issues surrounding treatment for breast cancer
· “Chemo brain” – what is it and how to deal with it
· The Look Good Feel Better program
· Lymphedema – its causes and treatments
· Advantages of clinical trials
· “Survivorship” – what happens when treatment is done

The event will be held Thursday, June 3, 2010 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm at the Bank of American Room in the St. Mary’s Women’s Health Pavilion, 330 Sabattus Street, Lewiston. Light refreshments will be served, raffles offered, and there will be plenty of opportunity for patients to meet and share experiences.
